About

My Journey

Like most Canadian kids growing up in the 70s, I was active in many sports — hockey, cycling, lacrosse, swimming — some of which I continued to enjoy in my early adult life.  Others formed the foundation for exploring other sports, such as equestrian, fencing, and archery.

It was through fencing and archery  that I became interested in two things — the coaching process and the challenge of target sports.

I began providing fencing instruction in the late 1990s and through various associations, I honed my coaching skills.  In the early 2000s, while continuing with fencing, I branched out to archery.  Over the years I developed instructional material for beginners and intermediate archers while earning NCCP level certifications in archery.

Around the end of 2014, I was introduced to trapshooting and that’s when all my previous sports experiences combined into one discipline.  I trained along side our younger daughter for more than five years and have since competed in dozens of Olympic trapshooting events in Canada, the US and in Europe.  I have also attended clinics given by former Olympians, World Champions and renowned European coaches.  Along the way, I have met many like-minded people and have forged life-long friendships, which to me, is the most rewarding part of the journey.

I am a NCCP Level I trained shotgun coach working toward my NCCP Competition & Development level certification.  In addition, I have obtained a ISSF D certification in shotgun.  In 2018 and 2019, I coached athletes on their journey to provincial and national championships.

I am drawn to the dynamic nature of Olympic trapshooting, to the minutia of planning the execution, and the need to exercise a mental strategy in order to make each and every shot.

These skills extend well beyond the shooting range into my personal and professional life.  They are skills that help with daily decisions, handling controversial situations and setting long term goals.

It’s all about discipline, being prepared and leaving no doubt about your physical and mental performance.

My own experience in multiple sports and proven methods of training allow me to provide you with the tools and strategies you need to achieve your personal and professional goals.

You can expect professional training plans tailored to help you improve your skill level, no matter if you are trapshooting for fun or preparing for your next competition. What I expect from you is a willingness to learn and the ability to commit to reaching your own goals.
